Terms, Privacy & Refunds
Last updated: 20 August 2026
Draft pending legal review. These pages describe exactly how the
service currently works, written from the source code rather than from a
template. They have not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have counsel check them
before you open paid signups, and fill in the operator details marked
[…] below.
Terms of Service
1. Who we are
SpriteForge ("the Service") is operated by [legal entity name],
registered in [country] at [registered address], company number
[number]. Contact: [support@your-domain]. By creating an account
you agree to these Terms.
2. What the Service does
The Service generates game assets from your text prompts and uploaded
images: animated character sprites (via Google Veo), still artwork (via Google
Gemini), instrumental music loops (via Google Lyria), and procedurally
synthesised sound effects (generated locally, no AI model involved). It packages
the results into sprite sheets and engine-ready project files for Godot, Unity
and Aseprite.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
- One person or organisation per account. Keep your password to yourself —
you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- We may limit how many accounts can be created from one network address,
and how much can be generated per day, to keep the Service available and to
prevent abuse of free credits.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app. Deletion is
immediate and permanent: your generations, images, music, sprite exports and
the files behind them are erased, and unused credits are forfeited.
4. Credits
- Generation is paid for with credits. 1 credit ≈ US$0.10. Current prices
are shown in the app before you start each generation.
- Credits are prepaid, non-transferable, and have no cash value outside
the Service.
- Credits are deducted before a generation starts. If the
generation fails, times out, or returns fewer results than you paid for, the
corresponding credits are returned to your balance automatically.
- Exporting, packaging, the frame editor, sound effects and downloads are
free and never consume credits.
- Credits do not expire while your account is open and in good standing.
5. Who owns what you make
- Your inputs stay yours. You keep all rights to the prompts and
images you supply. You grant us only the licence needed to run the Service:
to store your inputs and to send them to Google's generative models to
produce your output.
- Your outputs are yours to use commercially, including in paid
games and asset packs, subject to the caveats below. We claim no ownership
of them.
- You must have the rights to whatever you upload. Do not upload artwork,
characters or trademarks belonging to someone else.
6. Honest limits of AI-generated assets
These are properties of the underlying models, not policy choices, and we
would rather you know them up front:
- Uniqueness is not guaranteed. Another user with a similar prompt
may receive a similar result.
- Purely AI-generated material may not be copyrightable in the
United States and several other jurisdictions. Human editing and arrangement
generally create protectable authorship. Keep your prompts and edits as
evidence of your contribution.
- Generated music carries Google's SynthID watermark. It is
inaudible and must not be removed or obscured.
- Storefronts increasingly require disclosure. Steam, itch.io and
others ask you to declare AI-generated content. That declaration is your
responsibility.
- Procedurally synthesised sound effects carry none of the above
caveats: they come from a classic public-domain synthesis algorithm and
involve no AI model.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to generate: sexual content involving minors;
content that impersonates a real person or organisation; content designed to
harass or defame; material that infringes someone else's copyright or
trademark. Google's own safety filters also apply and may reject a prompt —
when that happens your credits are returned.
8. Availability, changes and termination
- The Service depends on Google's generative models. If Google changes,
prices or retires a model, our capabilities and prices may change with it.
We will give notice of price changes affecting credit costs.
- We may suspend an account that abuses the Service or attempts to
circumvent limits. If we terminate an account without cause, we refund
unused credits.
- We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the app
at least 14 days before they take effect.
9. Liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, our total
liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months
before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited
by law, including your statutory consumer rights.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [country]. If you are a
consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the protections of your local law and may
bring proceedings in your own courts.

| Images and videos you upload as references or frames | Conditioning the generation | You delete the item or the account |
| Generated videos, images, music, sprite sheets | Your library and downloads | You delete the item or the account |
| Credit ledger (charges, refunds, top-ups) | Showing your balance and settling billing disputes | You delete the account, subject to statutory bookkeeping periods |

We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics. The only cookie
we set is your session cookie: veo_token, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax,
Secure over HTTPS. It is strictly necessary to keep you signed in, which is why
there is no cookie banner asking you to accept it.
Who else sees your data
Two processors, and no one else:
- Google Cloud (Vertex AI) — receives your prompts and any images
you supply, in order to generate the output. Under Google's Service Specific
Terms, your prompts and outputs are Customer Data: Google does not use them
to train its models. Processing takes place in Google's
us-central1
region.
- Your payment provider (Paddle or Stripe) — handles the
transaction. Card details go to them directly and never reach our servers;
we store only the transaction identifier, amount and status.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
Where data lives
Account data and your generated files are stored on our server in
[hosting region]. Generation itself runs in Google's United States
region, which for EU/UK users means a transfer outside the EEA — covered by the
Standard Contractual Clauses in Google Cloud's data processing terms.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK or another jurisdiction with comparable law, you
have the right to access your data, correct it, export it, restrict or object
to processing, and have it erased.
- Access and export: everything you created is listed and
downloadable in the app at any time.
- Erasure: delete individual items, or your whole account, from the
app. Account deletion removes your rows and the files behind them
immediately and permanently.
- Anything else: write to [support@your-domain]. We answer
within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection
authority.
Legal bases: performing our contract with you (running the Service),
legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention), and legal obligation
(accounting records).
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly
collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us
and we will remove it.
Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Traffic is encrypted with TLS. Session
cookies are HttpOnly and Secure. Your files are served only to your own
account. Sign-in and sign-up attempts are rate-limited. Backups of the database
are taken hourly and kept for 14 days.
Refund Policy
Automatic refunds — no request needed
Credits come back to your balance by themselves when:
- a generation fails or returns no result;
- Google's safety filter rejects the prompt;
- a generation does not finish within its time limit;
- fewer items arrive than you paid for — you are refunded for the
difference;
- the service could not be reached at all.
You will see the refund in your credit history in the app. You are never
charged for a result you did not receive.
Unused credits: 14-day right of withdrawal
Consumers in the EU and UK have a statutory right to withdraw from a
distance purchase within 14 days. We honour it as follows, and extend the same
terms to everyone regardless of location:
- Untouched purchase: if you have not spent any credits from a
top-up, write to us within 14 days of the purchase and we refund it in full.
- Partly used purchase: we refund the unused portion, pro rata, at
the price you paid.
- Spent credits are not refundable. A generation that completed and
produced a file has been delivered — that is the digital content you bought,
and the model consumed real compute to make it.
When the result is not what you hoped for
Generative models are not deterministic: a prompt can produce a result you
do not like, and that is not a fault. Which is why the Service is built so
that trying again is cheap rather than free:
- The draft mode ("Fast") costs roughly a third of the quality
model — iterate there, then render the takes you keep.
- The frame editor lets you drop bad frames and erase artefacts and
save a new version without paying for another generation.
- Prices in credits are shown before you press the button.
That said, if something is genuinely broken — a corrupted file, a sprite
sheet that will not open, an animation that does not match what the tool
promised — write to us. We refund the credits. We would rather return credits
than argue.
How to ask
Email [support@your-domain] from your account address with what
happened and, if relevant, the generation number (#id, shown on
every card in the app). We reply within 3 business days. Money refunds are
returned through the original payment method, normally within 10 business days
of approval.
Chargebacks
Please write to us before disputing a charge with your bank — it is almost
always faster. Accounts with an open chargeback are suspended until it is
resolved.
